Hello fellow forum members, I hope this topic finds you well.I am in need of assistance with my E60. A few days ago I've noticed that the car started running really rough on cold start. RPM's fluctuate significantly under idle and it seems the car is fighting to keep itself alive. If left for a moment to go through the initial warm up from 'higher' to lower 'semi warm' RPM range a yellow check engine light comes on. On restart however it disappears. Jaye60 good point on the coils aspect!

I was going to look at the plugs + coils again but given your observation rules that aspect out. As far as oil consumption goes, I probably top it up with 1L every 2.5k - 3k miles. If I have a spirited drive or enjoy M6 Toll Road with enthusiasm then that window drops down to probably 1k miles. That rarely happens though so generally it doesn't go above 3k RPM on normal commute.

Funny, my M5 consumes zero oil between services. I too hope it's not injectors and if it is fingers crossed its only 1, the one that is causing the misfire. Any idea of the cost for CVV? I think stratified (idle) needs a strong spark to ignite and work properly as the mixture is so weak.If yours hasn't had new coil packs I'd be giving that a go if you can get the same deal from ECP. Delphi ones too. Same as BMW.Or another injector test I've found is remove the plugs and see if any are wet with petrol. Needs standing over night.

If they are wet in morning it's probably leaking. Got home tonight, warmed her up, removed oil cap - pretty much no resistance whatsoever. On a scale from 1 to10 - 1.

With 151k miles on it, I'm not surprised it has a few niggles but a quick check on ECP puts a set of new coil packs at around 120 for the full set (obviously whatever discount they're running at the time will affect that).Other than the normal exhaust vapours, I can't say my N53B30 emits anything more than I'd consider normal - which for a 151k miles engine ain't bad at all! Got home, swapped plugs and coils around, started the car - DME yellow engine light came on.
